Landmark Norfolk puppies are born in my office/nursery, across the hall from my room where they are kept warm, quiet and well supervised for several weeks.  When they are old enough to begin to notice the world, they are moved to take their place among the activities of people and dogs.

Puppies are raised in an area that is 5 feet by 10 feet...with their box and toys on one end and their papers on the other. This allotment of ample space encourages them to not eliminate where they play and sleep.

As they begin to run around and explore they are given several outings a day, outside if the weather permits. so that they have opportunities to explore their world.

PUPPY EVALUATION

All Landmark puppies are evaluated at 8 weeks of age. We are fortunate to live near Pat and Bob Hastings who have evaluated every litter of Landmark puppies since l987. Bob and Pat were professional all breed handlers and judges for a combined 42 years. It was during this time that they researched and developed their puppy evaluation process.

The purpose of this process is to assess the structural strengths and weaknesses of the pups and to enable us to understand where we need to improve our breeding program.

What I have learned from Pat Hastings is that: “A sound dog will age more gracefully, be less prone to breakdown under stress or injury, be more tireless and efficient as a worker, and be healthier and more attractive throughout his life.”
